We, the Men of Catholic Central, our families and friends, are with our brother David Widzinki and his family during this very difficult time.  The power of our brotherhood, our love, and our commitment to our brothers and their family is so strong and consistent.  Let’s use this blog to show our support and our commitment to David and to each other.  Our patroness Mary, Alma Mater, places us into the hands of Jesus our Savior, and it is the right place to be.

Dear David and Family, We recall your spirit when you played for the St. Edith and the skill and talent you possessed even then…we were not surprised that you succeeded at such a high level so quickly for the Shamrocks…Best of all was the kind person you always were off the field. We will remember your competitiveness and your kindness forever…. God Bless your soul and may God Bless and console your family…

O God of spirits and of all flesh, You have trampled upon death and have abolished the power of the devil, giving life to Your world. Give rest to the soul of Your departed servant David in a place of light, in a place of repose, in a place of refreshment, where there is no pain, sorrow, and suffering.

For You are the Resurrection, the Life, and the Repose of Your servant David, O Christ our God; and to You do we send up glory, with Your Eternal Father, and Your All;Holy, Good and Life-creating Spirit, both now and ever, and to the ages of ages.

Everlasting be your memory, O our brother, who are worthy of blessedness and eternal memory.

It was the most beautiful service I have ever attended! CC is a school that stands for Brotherhood, Faith, Community and Love. Your son seemed liked a remarkable man and our family is so sorry for your loss. Your message was so clear to my family and the community “Keep the Faith and God will get you through.” Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time.

My nephew attends Catholic Central and as a result, I have been following (and mourning) the loss of David Widzinski. On behalf of Grand Rapids Catholic Central, please accept our condolences. Having never met David, I wanted to know more about him. After reading Fr. Huber’s homily and his thoughtful words, I now know who David is and what he stood for.

To all of you at Catholic Central, the example you have set in dealing with David’s passing is not only moving, it is essential to the Widzinski’s as they mourn their loss. I am grateful to have witnessed it.

  21. 21 Mary December 9, 2012 at 11:24 pm

David’s absence is a physical pain, still fresh, and yet the profound and beautiful changes he is creating in the lives of his CC brothers are already becoming evident. In this new way, he is present with us now. Let us hold on tightly to the love and unity of these last days, so that it may carry us through the whole healing process.

Our thoughts and prayers to the Widzinski family.

I was not able to attend the funeral and that really bothered me greatly. But I just download the homily. I have never read such a profound explanation of David’s journey from this life to the next. I gave me a real sense of peace that I was dearly searching for.

My faith is strong and I just know that in his short life, he touched so many people with his legacy and example. He has me thinking about the meaning of life, how precious it is, and the excitment about one day going to heaven myself. I do not fear death as much as before. And I have never had the honor of meeting David, and yet God touch me with his death too.

my prayers are for his dear family and the sorrow and grief they must be feeling. To have such a wonderful son, with so much promise not be here on earth anymore. I pray that they have their faith, the Catholic Central Family, and those of us in the community praying for them.

We are praying daily for the Widzinski Family to find strength during their devastating loss. David, and his acts of kindness, will continually be an inspiration to his CC brothers as well as the whole community. His letter to Tim was beautifully and thoughtfully written If everyone took the extra time to be so kind, the world would be a better place. David made the world a better place.

Everyday we think of you David and pray for your family. You are so missed by your friends that love you so much. There are no words that can possibly make this better to everyone who is struggling with the loss of your amazing smile and kind and gracious ways. Like Mary said previously, the impact of your friendship on our sons is so evident in them everyday. You will live on forever in them. Your time on earth was too short, but the love and friendship you left behind will last forever. We miss you so much David and we will never forget you.
